ESPaCC has met with the Local Authority to put forward the concerns and comments raised by Parents and Carers in response to their December published Bulletin. At that time, we recommended that the Local Authority put out some communications to explain the situation which we believe is something they are considering.
We are also going to be meeting with the Local Authority and some Support Groups to discuss this further. We will continue to represent your views in this matter and will bring you a further update as soon as we have anything further to add to this.
Just a quick update to let you know that our Chair and Vice-Chair met with ISEND this week to discuss the bulletin sent to schools in December 2018.
All concerns were raised and ISEND have agreed to write a new statement to share with families.
As soon as we have more information we will update again.
ESPaCC have recently been made aware of an ISEND bulletin sent to East Sussex schools in December 2018.
We are very concerned at the content of the bulletin and the potential impact this will have for families who have a child or young person with SEND.
We have shared our concerns with the NNPCF and Contact, our umbrella and support organisations, who will be discussing with the DfE on our behalf.
ESPaCC will also be seeking reassurances from council members that the principals and requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 will be upheld and adhered to, and not contravened as suggested in the ISEND bulletin.
We will post updates as and when we have information to share, but would welcome any comments regards the bulletin in the meantime.
