Children's Services are responsible for advising and supporting children with disabilities in order to make sure that they can live as independently as possible.
They do this whether you are the child concerned or a parent or carer looking after a child who is disabled or has special needs.

Short breaks means someone else looks after your child while you go out or spend time with other family members - care in the home or away from the home, clubs, play-schemes, residential breaks.
Direct payments are an agreed amount of money that you are given so that you can arrange your own care.
You can use this money to organise and buy the care and support you need.
If you’re looking after someone who couldn’t manage without your help you have a right to have your own needs assessed.
This is called a carer’s assessment..
